Halloween

This is a picture heavy post but it's all our Halloween activities. First off is pictures of the MOPS farm day we had Halloween day. Miller had alot of fun...I think he likes farm life. I didn't get a picture of him on the pony b/c my camera died but he LOVED it. He kept say "yeehaw" and rode that poor pony until it was tired.

Next up are the pictures from the Halloween party at school and the kids trip to the nursing home to trick-or-treat.

Miller and his friends Savannah and Ella

she is taller than him but not this much

The last set of pictures are from Patchville at our church. I cannot even tell you how huge this event was. We're still getting used to going to a church with 6000 members. It means that everything is BIG. Miller had a good time but it was a bit crowded and he didn't want to stand in line to do anything.

there was another petting zoo

and lots of games

and slides

I didn't take any pictures on Halloween night partly b/c my batteries died (yes I realize that happens alot...it's actually my moms camera b/c mine is broken) and partly b/c I knew I had tons of pictures of Miller in his outfit. I can say we got some good use out of the pirate costume this year.

Disney

I don't want to overwhelm everyone with blog posts to catch you up on the last 5 weeks so this one and the one below are it for today. I took 99 pictures at Disney and if you want to see them go to my FB page or ask me and I'll email them to you. I picked 5 that I thought would describe our trip.

This is Miller with his "1st time" button. Everyone kept asking him if he was excited to go to Disney. He didn't know what that meant so he wasn't really that excited...but he LOVED it. One day him and Mimi were making a wish in a fountain and he wished we could ride rides and play every day for the rest of our lives. Too cute! The first day it was just the 3 of us and we went to Magic Kingdom.

The second day, we had Mimi and Papa with us and we went to Epcot. It was fun but there was way too much walking and not as many rides (that's what Miller likes). He did well and we had fun. Here he is in the mouth of a shark...like the one from Nemo.

The third day we went back to Magic Kingdom with Mimi and Papa. I was glad we had two days at Magic Kingdom b/c it is the most kid friendly park and there is alot to do. Mimi and Papa paid for Miller to do the new Pirate League thing there. It's like the Bippity Boppity Boutique but for Pirates. We already had his costume and they painted his face and gave him a pirate name, medallion, bandana, earring, sword and all kinds of stuff. They loved him b/c he really got into character. I know pirates are supposed to be scary but he was the cutest pirate I've ever seen.

We saw every character you can imagine (and have pictures with them all) but Miller really enjoyed the character breakfast. He was so excited that he barely ate that morning.

The last day we went to Hollywood Studios. We basically went to see the Playhouse Disney show and meet the characters. It's still a bit old for Miller.
One last picture of Miller in Mexico at Epcot...we never were able to find a hat his size. The small ones were too big for his big head.

We had a great time and can't wait to go back after daddy gets home from deployment. We debated for months whether or not to go but we were glad we did. It was fun to watch Miller and experience everything through him. It was a bit tiring for mommy at 16 weeks pregnant (this pregnancy is so different than Miller) but I hung in there.

Those infamous school pictures

We got Miller's school pictures back expecting not to like them at all after knowing he was in his sweatshorts, but they were cute. So cute in fact that we bought them. I'll just always keep it as a reminder of our first school picture experience.

Miller's class (minus 2 kids)....why is my kid not looking at the camera?

cheesy smile but so cute...at least his eyes are open

the best picture is of course one where you can see his shorts

man he's a cute kid....ladies watch out. hehe!

School Pictures

A couple of weeks ago, Miller had his school pictures. Since these were his first ever school pictures, we went and bought a cute new fall outfit. I think he looks so handsome and so grown up. Let's just hope he didn't smile like this for his pictures. Of course I don't know that it would matter b/c he had his first (and only) accident at school that morning (I'm not even sure it could be called an accident since he had diahrea...sorry if that is TMI). His pants were covered and there was no way to clean them in time. So they put on his shorts that I sent in case of an accident...navy blue sweatshorts....with this adorable outfit. Needless to say, I'm not looking forward to seeing his pictures. So much for our very first school pictures. At least I took these pictures before we left the house.

Tybee time

Nana, Grandpa Jim, Aunt Kim and her friend Melanie came out and stayed at a house on Tybee for a few days a couple of weekends ago. The weather was beautiful (not the normal HOT of the summer) and we had fun just hanging out.

Pink Hair

One day Miller came home from school with paint in his hair. What the teacher failed to tell me was it was pink paint. When I asked him how the paint got in his hair, I got the cutest answer. He said Miss Trish (his teacher) had paint bottles that looked like shampoo, so naturally he put it in his hair. Kids!

The Twisty Twist

Miller has invented his own dance move and he calls it the Twisty Twist. He'll do it for anyone that will watch. In fact, he LOVES to dance it does it pretty much daily for us. But the funny thing about the twisty twist is that he did the same exact thing each time. He really had invented his own dance routine. Jon says he watches SYTYCD too much with me.

Trip to FL

Then the Sunday of Labor Day, we left after church and headed to FL to see Grandpa Jim and Great-Grandma. Miller had never met his great-grandma but he took to her and grandpa jim immediately and loved them both. We even got to spend Monday at the beach with grandpa.

Fernandina is known for pirates and Miller LOVES pirates right now

Water Park

Labor Day weekend was the last one that the water park was open and since Daddy had never been, we decided to go. I didn't take very many pictures b/c everytime I tried, some kid would squirt me with water and that's not good for the camera. Miller had fun and passed out the minute we got back in the car.

1st Day of School

Last Tuesday was Miller's first day of preschool. I won't even get into how I feel about him growing up so fast. He goes 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) from 9-12. He was excited the first day but you just never know how it will go. He kissed mommy and daddy goodbye and never looked back. He seemed to have a great time and loved his teacher (he talks about her all the time). We pick them up in carpool (where the teachers put them in your car for you) and everyone that puts him in the car just loves him. They say he is so sweet. It's always good to know your kids act good for others even when they don't for you. hehe! He has stayed dry every day so far that he's been in school and really seems to enjoy it.

he has to wear play clothes to school and I'm glad I adhered to that as he had paint on his clothes one day

don't ask me what this smile is...

I wanted a picture of his backpack and this is what he gave me

now he goes right in, puts his backpack on the hook and goes to play....I have to beg for a hug goodbye

I said all along that I thought this would be a good decision for our family and it has been. I thought I'd have a baby through adoption by now so it's hard for me to drop him and be alone but it's been good for both of us. I am so happy with the school we chose and absolutely adore his teacher (as does he). It really was the best decision for our family and I'm sure will be even more so after daddy deploys....but my baby is in school. sniff, sniff.

The best dog in the WORLD!!!

If you don't know how I feel about my dog, then you don't read this blog enough. She is an amazingly good dog and we love her very much. I know some people think I'm too attached to her but let me tell you about her first. We moved to Hawaii after only being married a year and a half. Three months after we arrived, Jon deployed. I was thousands of miles away from my family and friends and I knew no one. I mean I knew about 3 people but not very well. I had just started working and was getting to know those ladies but I had no close friends. When Jon left, I spent alot of time crying and lying around on the couch. I had trouble sleeping at first b/c I wasn't used to sleeping alone. She used to lay in the bed with me but it was too hot for her to sleep there. So, she would lay with me until I went to sleep and then get down on the floor to sleep. She took care of me and looked out for me. She has been nothing short of amazing with Miller too. No matter what he does to her (tries to ride her like a horse, sticks his hands in her mouth to get a bone, or takes her toys), she never reacts. She has never barked, growled or snapped at him....NEVER! We can let her outside the house and she won't run away...even if she sees another dog. She's a great dog and a great addition to our family.

Anyway, she had a birthday on the 10th and she turned 7. We went to Petsmart to let her pick out her toys and treats and we even sang to her. Here is a video of Miller singing his version of Happy Birthday! Then there is a picture of her with the monkey she got for her birthday!

Family Fun at the Ewings

Since moving into our house, we've been wanting to have some friends over to just hang out. That is one of the exciting things about having a house of our own...entertaining. So we had some Army and small group friends over on Saturday to hang out, eat, and play Wii. I didn't get my camera out until late so the Army folks had left but I got some good pictures (and a great video but I'm just gonna FB that one). The kids had fun playing on Miller's playground and destroying his playroom and bedroom, but they were great. The adults really got into Guitar Hero as most had not played it. We had quite a few addicts by the end.

Crazy Miller

I really cannot explain how much Miller makes us laugh. He's always saying the funniest things (I'm gonna write a bunch down and do a post soon) and putting on the funniest outfits. This first picture I just could not resist. The purple straps go to a Dora backpack. I'm not sure what he was supposed to be

And here are his superman pajamas that we found randomly when daddy and I were shopping. He LOVES them and will often ask to change into them to play. I think he'd wear them all day everyday if I'd let him.

Update from the world's worst blogger

I know! I know! I've been the world's worst blogger lately. We've had alot going on and Miller and I have been trying to enjoy the summer. Here are a few random ones from the last few weeks...

the water park in Statesboro...this is the last one i got b/c miller never stopped and i was afraid of losing him

laura and heather at our MOPS leadership night
Have I told you all I'm doing MOPS leadership next year? For those that don't know, MOPS is Mother's of Preschoolers. Honestly it's mothers of all young kids as many only have babies. I joined in January and it was really a great decision for me. After the miscarriage, I really just wanted to crawl into a cave and not come out. This was a great way for me to meet new like-minded moms and get out. The fact that I could be in a room with so many pregnant women (someone gets pregnant each month it seems) and little babies is truly a miracle. The fact that I actually enjoyed it and made friends with pregnant women is even more of a miracle. So next year I will be a DGL (discussion group leader). Basically we are all set up in tables of approx. 8 women. I'll be the leader at a table. It's alot more work and alot more involved then I'm explaining but you get the idea. I'm really excited about it and about seeing how God stretches me (like loving on all the pregnant women that get pregnant at the drop of a hat).
